This units theme was value..
The first project we did was supposed to be a practice in value using whatever medium we liked. I decided to work in colored pencil. First we drew an organic shape on the paper, I choose the Girl Scout logo. (down there if you couldn't tell...)
It was actually a lot harder to draw than I expected it to be. I think what I love about this shape so much is its complexity of it so I didn't really care that it was hard to draw. I also like that it is on the shortbread cookies we sell :) Anyways, then we drew lines throughout the paper to created a broken or shattered look. I used a dark green color inside of the shape and then a much brighter green color for the rest of the paper. I love working in 12x12 but it is huge. Making art big is hard for me. Its something I need to do more often so I can get used to it.
I couldn't figure out how to get the images to rotate :( I'm really proud of how this came out. I learned a lot working with colored pencils which was harder than I expected. The colors were really vibrant which I love. The second picture on the top shows the colors really well. This was originally supposed to be a skill building assignment but I took very long to do it so it ended up becoming my final value project as well.
Girl Scouts is something that I value a lot because of how much it's taught me. I am lucky to have such amazing people in my troop and the opportunity that come from them.
